Registering a database instance

A step-by-step guide on documenting your instances with ClearDB Documenter.
Why you need to register instances
A ClearDB Documenter license relies on the two metrics: a number of users and a number of DBIs (database instances). Each user license is granted access to three unique database instances. Generally, these are production, test and dev databases, or any other instances defined by user.

The instance is considered registered in ClearDB Documenter, when there's a first report generated on that instance. A user can generate an unlimited number of reports on a registered instance.

Please note: a trial license supports 3 unique Oracle database instances and 1 concurrent user.
How to register database instances (DBIs) in ClearDB Documenter
Please follow these steps to ensure your database instance is registered in ClearDB Documenter:
1
To generate a database report (also referred to as Docu), a database instance must be already registered in your ClearDB Documenter. Registration requires a password to ensure that only the authorized user can do it.
2
Registration of a database instance is final as soon as the first database report on its object(s) has been generated successfully.
Please note: you won't be able to de-register a once registered instance.
3
An unlimited number of database reports can be generated using a registered database instance.
4
Registration of a database instance is not required ONLY if a report is generated on the objects from pre-installed Oracle schemas (e.g. SYS, HR, or SCOTT).
Please note: this is a helpful way to discover the functionality of ClearDB Documenter without consuming one of your licensed unique database instances.
5
For the trial version of ClearDB Documenter the following passwords are used:
BEA8A8505B
E8F1A9B37A
18E05DF2B5

Please note: a registration password can be used only once. Keep the passwords in a safe place.
6
To avoid duplicate registration of the same database instances, just register all unique database instances in advance in the following way:
- create a dummy database report with only one object for each unique instance
- registration of a database instance is final as soon as the first database report on its object(s) has been generated successfully.
